Philadelphia Eagles Get Their Man: Evan Mathis Signs 5-Year Deal

Ah, you can breathe easy, at least for a little bit. The Eagles announced on Saturday that they re-signed OG Evan Mathis to a 5-year deal.

As he does for so many things, Evan Mathis took to Twitter to provide a hint of the as to the coming announcement.

An hour later he made it even more official…well, as official as Mathis’ tweets get.

After signing a 1-year deal last year for the veteran minimum salary, Mathis started 15 games at left guard for the Birds. He flourished under offensive line coach Howard Mudd’s system and had what was considered by many to be a Pro Bowl season. Keeping Mathis was a priority for the Eagles, as the team’s o-line came together nicely last year and was a big part of paving the way for RB LeSean McCoy’s record breaking season.

Congratulations to Mathis on his new deal. Now, Eagles front office, let’s go sign us a linebacker!
