Philadelphia Eagles training camp: Cliff Harris and Mychal Kendricks stand out early

Veterans report to Eagles training camp on Wednesday but all this week, the rookies and select veterans (including the team’s quarterbacks) have been at it preparing for the 2012 season. A few notes:

-Corner Cliff Harris is impressing. On Monday he had two picks and broke up a pass from Mike Vick during a 7 -on-7 scrimmage. Overall, reports are that the secondary is putting in a solid performance.

-LB Mychal Kendricks adds to the reasons to be excited about Philadelphia’s linebackers corps this season. Per CSNPhilly on two great plays on Tuesday:

First, he broke through the line during the 11-on-11 scrimmage, rose up and knocked a pass down in the backfield. Then, in coverage, he jumped the route on a curl over the middle and broke up a Nick Foles pass.  The whole defensive unit gave Kendricks some screams of approval after the play.

-All four quarterbacks on the Eagles roster–Vick, Mike Kafka, Nick Foles and Trent Edwards–have been getting on the field, but not extensively, in many cases.

-So far the QBs have not connected well with their receivers– not too surprising given the youth of the receivers, the newness of camp, and the fact that all are getting used to each other. But it should start to improve,  dramatically soon. Everyone’s in the same boat–time to sink or swim.

Check out some video of Harris from Tuesday’s practice courtesy of, as well as their ever-expanding collection of photos from camp.

The goodness is just getting underway.
