The Philadelphia Eagles held their annual Flight Night event on Sunday, a team practice enlivened with what Andy Reid called some “razzle dazzle” for fans with proceeds benefiting Eagles Youth Partnership.
As if there wasn’t enough electricity present at the Linc with Eagles fans of all ages exactly two weeks away from Philadelphia’s regular season opener, an amazing tribute video to Brian Dawkins was played that literally gave me chills. There will never be another one like him.
The start of the evening saw skydivers parachuting into the Linc right onto the field. Offensive lineman Julian Vandervelde, an opera singer, sang the national anthem.
The most notable occurrence at the practice was the fact that Mike Vick participated and looked good throwing. We’ll see what that means he he next sees time on the playing field on September 9 against the Browns.
In fun, random events from the evening:
-A young fan asked his favorite player, Trent Cole, who his favorite quarterback has been to sack. His answer? It couldn’t have been scripted better: Eli Manning. Yees.
-As if Jason Kelce doesn’t already have enough hair on his face, he added to his mountain man look by wearing a racoon cap all evening.
-In a demonstration of the secondary’s Dougie skills, I can tell you without a doubt that DRC can MOVE. I feel Nnamdi Asomugha can as well but he held back, only breaking into a running man. Oh yes, and you should know that Kurt Coleman can do backflips.
