The Philadelphia Eagles lost to the New England Patriots 42-35 on Friday night in Foxboro, falling to 0-2 in the preseason. The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Tuesday that punter Mat McBriar was signed to a two-year deal, meaning that Chas Henry, in his second year with the team, was out.
You may recall that former Cowboy and two-time Pro Bowler McBriar (6’0, 227) was signed by the Birds just before training camp to give Henry some competition. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles faced an NFL first defense for the first time in his career on Monday night and if he was nervous about it he certainly didn’t let on.
In the 27-10 victory by the Eagles over the Browns, Foles finished the first half 12/19 for 146 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception for a 99.9 passer rating. At one point it appeared that Foles had scored his third touchdown in under 6 minutes but the long haul to fellow rookie Damaris Johnson just missed being a score, as Johnson failed to get his second foot in the endzone.
For those keeping count, that’s 6 touchdowns in 3 preseason games for Foles, the most of any QB in the league.
