Will Philadelphia see a return on its investment in Brandon Graham?

Share

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham hasn’t seen much time on the playing field since being drafted in the first round by the Birds in 2010, but he’s been talked about often. And he has heard all of the criticism.

The talk of him being a bust with just 3 sacks thus far in his NFL career. The comparisons made to New York Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul, drafted 2 places behind Graham as the 15th overall pick  but whose work for the Giants has now earned him a Super Bowl ring.

Graham knows that all he can do to quiet the talk is to show up and play hard. And that’s what he intends to do in 2012, using the chatter to fuel him.

“Right now, I’m a bust, so I’m going to deal with that. I’m a bust and I’m going to keep being a bust, even when I make plays, I’m going to still act like I’m a bust, you know what I’m saying?” Continue reading ‘Will Philadelphia see a return on its investment in Brandon Graham?’

It’s not yet official, but the days of having to say “Philadelphia Eagles” and “Vince Young” together are rapidly coming to a close.

Phew.

Trent Edwards

The Eagles announced on Thursday that the team signed former Buffalo Bills quarterback Trent Edwards to a 1-year deal. Edwards worked out for Philadelphia a couple of times in recent weeks, so the signing is not a surprise.

Does it officially mean that Vince Young will not be on the team’s roster in 2012? No. Not quite yet. But it is all but certain. VY will be allowed to walk at the  into free agency when it begins on March 13. Where he goes is some other team’s problem. Eagles GM Howie Roseman

Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman spoke to three reporters on Thursday about a range of issues, from the free agency to the draft to DeSean to Asante Samuel. Jonathan Tamari wrote about  the conversation on behalf of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

His comments on DeSean Jackson were very complimentary:

“We feel fortunate to have a player of DeSean Jackson’s magnitude on our football team and I think the future is bright for DeSean Jackson.”

Could these remarks indicate that the Eagles may indeed keep Jackson? Or, are they what one should expect to hear from a GM likely about to place a franchise tag, seeking to ultimately trade that player to another team? Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda: How 2011’s Failures Should Fuel the 2012 Eagles to Greatness

Ah, to know what thoughts ran through Andy Reid’s head as he watched the confetti fall atop the New York Giants after they won Super Bowl 46 in Indianapolis last Sunday.

Probably similar feelings of disgust as Eagles fans who watched their barely-better divisional opponent bring home the Lombardi.

The reaction of players was witnessed via Twitter. Trent Cole lamented that  Philadelphia was “just inches” away from being in the same place.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda. But didn’t. Continue reading ‘Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda: How 2011’s Failures Should Fuel the 2012 Eagles to Greatness’
