It’s August, which means we’re almost there. It’s almost fall. And around these parts, fall equals football.

Sure, it’s preseason. But preseason always means we’re that much closer to the real thing. The games hold little meaning, other than our first real peeks into the talent of the new members of the team. As these glimpses make or break the futures of players as well as teams, it does hold import.

Now the squad is about to sign Tim Tebow, a move that will ensure that the sports media (read: ESPN) camps out in Philadelphia until it is forced to tear itself away for the upcoming NFL draft. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Mike Vick has made it clear in recent days that it would be his preference to have a starter named before the start of training camp. And though perhaps it would have been best for him to keep this thought to himself, you can’t really blame him for feeling that way. Who wouldn’t want to have certainty about their job status heading into camp?

With Andy Reid out as Philadelphia Eagles head coach, the major question facing the franchise now is who will replace him.The speculation has swirled for months, as Reid’s fate was sealed further by each successive loss. Here’s a look at some of the possibilities.

Chip Kelly

The name that has been tossed around most in relation to the Eagles head coaching gig is University of Oregon head coach Chip Kelly. His innovation and reputation as an offensive mastermind certainly has to peak the interest of the Birds—and many other teams. However, he is untested in the NFL. Philadelphia has worked hard to establish itself as an elite franchise in the NFL and taking the plunge with someone with no league experience following Reid’s success is quite a gamble.
