Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman on the draft: ‘We’re not going to force anything’

With a little over a week to go until the 2013 NFL draft begins, Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman met with members of the press  on Monday. The media hoped to discover  inklings of the team’s strategy heading into the draft. Not surprisingly, little was definitively revealed by Roseman, including the question of who ultimately calls the shot within the organization at the draft. Philadelphia Eagles load up on quarterbacks

The Philadelphia Eagles added yet another quarterback to their roster on Tuesday, bringing the grand total to five.  That list includes Mike Vick, Nick Foles, Trent Edwards, Dennis Dixon, and now G.J. Kinne.

Kinne (6-2, 234), was signed to a two-year deal with the Birds. Obviously, he’s not a big name. But he has ties to some presently with the Eagles organization. He played at Tulsa with wide receiver Damaris Johnson and was coached by the Birds’ Eagles offensive quality control coach Press Taylor. So, there’s that. During his three-year career at Tulsa (he transferred there after attending the University of Texas his freshman year), Kinne ranked second in the school’s history in passing yards (9,472), total offense (10,831 yards) and passing touchdowns (81). Philadelphia Eagles sign TE Evan Moore

New Philadelphia Eagles tight end Evan Moore

The Philadelphia Eagles filled the roster spot left vacant by Clay Harbor’s trip to IR by signing tight end Evan Moore on Thursday.

Moore (6-6, 250) was with the Seattle Seahawks for most of the 2012 season, playing in 14 days before being released on December 19 after an unimpressive season–Moore had just 1 catch for 6 yards this year. Continue reading ‘Philadelphia Eagles sign TE Evan Moore’

Will the Philadephia Eagles win another game in 2012?

The Eagles were anything but a picture of confidence as they prepared to walk onto FedEx Field on Sunday. Image via the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Philadelphia Eagles may not win another game in 2012.

It’s not a statement made to be alarmist. It’s one that may well be the reality. I’ll still be watching/suffering through ever single game. But there are no longer any expectations from this Eagles team.

Nary a touchdown scored by the Birds in the 31-6 throttling by the Washington Redskins, who advance to 4-6 while the Eagles fall to 3-7. Philadelphia is all alone at the basement of the NFC East.

Sunday was indeed about the quarterbacks, and the show was put on by the one not named Nick Foles. Foles struggled, which wasn’t a surprise. 21/46 for 204 yards and no touchdowns and 2 interceptions for a 40.5 passer rating. No one expected Foles to be a picture of polished precision after not taking reps for most of the season. But you did hope to see some of the flashes of poise that impressed us so much during the preseason. Continue reading ‘Will the Philadephia Eagles win another game in 2012?’

Philadelphia Eagles have their #3 QB: Edwards beats out Kafka

Mike Kafka will wear an Eagles uniform no more.

It seemed pretty clear leading up to Thursday, and after the Eagles’ defeat of the Jets in their preseason finale there could be no doubt: Trent Edwards had fought for and won a spot on Philadelphia’s roster.

The news became official on Friday afternoon.

Who could have ever predicted this turn of events at the start of training camp, not least at the start of the preseason? Continue reading ‘Philadelphia Eagles have their #3 QB: Edwards beats out Kafka’
